New probe spudded at Berangan prospect

Swedish explorer Lundin Petroleum has kicked off drilling of the second well in an exploration campaign off Sabah, Malaysia.

The probe at the Berangan prospect in Lundin-operated block SB303 is targeting hydrocarbons in a mid-Miocene structure in an undrilled area 10 kilometres to the south-east of the company’s earlier Tarap gas discovery.

It will be drilled to a depth of 1700 metres in about 70 metres of water using the rig West Courageous.

Lundin will be hoping for a reversal of the recent duster drilled with its first well of the campaign at the Tiga Papan prospect.
