LLOG reveals Gulf discovery double

US independent LLOG Exploration has disclosed that it made two discoveries within the past six months in the deep-water Gulf of Mexico.

The explorer said that Son of Bluto 2 at the Mississippi Canyon 431 was drilled to a total depth of 18,500 feet and “encountered an oil-bearing zone and a separate gas-bearing zone”.

The well was suspended pending completion back in the first quarter, the Covington, Louisiana-headquartered company said.

As Upstream first reported in May, the probe drilled by the Noble Amos Runner had been rumoured successful but the explorer never disclosed any details.

Marmalard at Mississippi Canyon 300 was drilled to a total depth of 18,100 feet and encountered two oil-bearing zones.
