US gains six rigs

Rig count: Grew by six this week

The count of rigs drilling in the US grew by six this week to 1930, Houston-based service firm Baker Hughes said Friday.

The number of units drilling for oil increased by 13 for a total of 1429. The gas rig count dropped by seven to 498.

Oklahoma and Texas saw the largest change in their counts, adding six and five rigs respectively for totals of 199 and 909.

New Mexico added three rigs for a total of 86 and Alaska added two for a total of six. West Virginia added a single rig for a total of 25.
