Geophysics
at
the
University
of
Texas
(Austin)
did
not
examine
the
role
the
fracking
process
itself
plays
in
earthquakes.
The
seismic
activity
associated
with
injection
wells
was
deemed
not
powerful
enough
to
pose
a
risk
to
the
public,
researchers
said.
Cliff
Frohlich,
the
study's
lead
scientist,
said
he
looked
at
data
from
temporary
seismographs
placed
in
the
Barnett
Shale
region
between
November
2009
and
September
last
year.
