Expedite: lawmakers call on Obama administration to speed up approvals of LNG exports

A group of 44 US lawmakers have called on President Barack Obama's administration to expedite the approval process for LNG export facilities, saying the delays are stifling domestic production of natural gas.

In a letter sent to Energy Secretary Steven Chu on Tuesday, the group of 34 Republicans and 10 Democrats in the House of Representatives called for "a renewed sense of urgency to the approval process".

They cited a lack of options for newly producing states to market their gas as a major impediment to further production.
