Sete orders Sembcorp drillships

Brazilian win: Sembcorp has been awarded a $4 billion contract for the design and construction of five drillships from Sete Brasil

Sete Brasil has placed an order with Sembcorp Marine subsidiary Jurong Shipyard worth more than $4 billion for the design and construction of five drillships.

The order follows on from a $793 million deal earlier this year between the pair for an ultra-deepwater drillship to be built at Sembcorp’s Estalerio Jurong Aracruz yard in Brazil.

Sembcorp said all six drillships ordered by Sete were based on Jurong Shipyard’s Jurong Espadon drillship design and will be capable of operating in water depths of up to 10,000 feet and drilling to depths of up to 40,000 feet.
