Rig fatality: Service worker died after drill site fall

A service company worker was killed Monday after a fall at a North Dakota well site near Killdeer, US safety regulators confirmed to Upstream.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration said it had opened an investigation into the employer, Big Sky Well Service of Belfield, but would not release additional details.

A spokesman for the Dunn County sheriff's office identified the man as Terry Metcalf, 52, of Dickinson.

Authorities were called to the scene at 7:30 am Monday, sheriff's Capt. Ron Krivoruchka said.
