CNOOC makes double strike

CNOOC has made a pair of exploration discoveries at different plays in China near where it has previously struck oil.

The Chinese major said it has made one discovery at the Luda 6-2 field in Liaodong Bay, Bohai.

The well was drilled in average water depths of just 31 metres. The comany drilled wells Luda 6-2-4 and Luda 6-2-5, throwing up 40 metres and 147.6 metres of oil pay zones, respectively. Together the two have yielded average daily produciton of 850 barrels of oil.

CNOOC has also made a discovery at the Lufeng 15-1 well in the Pealr River Mount basin, drilled in average water depths of 283 metres.
