Schlumberger wins Statoil wireline gig

Wireline work: Statoil-operated Troll field off Norway

Schlumberger has won a Nkr2 billion ($342 million) award from Statoil to provide electric wireline logging services across the Norwegian continental shelf.

The four-year contract, which will run from February 2013 and carries extension options, applies to all exploration and production licences on the NCS.

The workscope covers provision of open-hole logging, cased-hole logging, borehole seismic and perforation services, while Schlumberger will also be required to come up with innovative technological solutions for formation evaluation and well operations.

"High-quality logging services are fundamental to characterise reservoirs in the exploration and production phase. This increases our precision of estimating hydrocarbon volumes and increases recovery,” said Statoil’s senior vice president of exploration Erling Vaagnes.
