Colombia post: New energy minister named

Current Colombian Interior Minister Federico Renjifo has been named the new mines and energy minister, a key post for Latin America's fourth-largest oil producer.

Renjifo, who is also a board member at state oil company Ecopetrol, will replace Mauricio Cardenas, who is leaving the job to become finance minister, Dow Jones reported.

The changes by President Juan Manuel Santos to his cabinet began last week, and they come as he sees his popularity ratings decline. Santos has been in office for half of his four-year term and may run for re-election in 2014.
