Jacket arrives for Forties satellite platform

Forties revival: Satellite platform due to add 18 wells to prolific field

US independent Apache Corporation has taken delivery of the jacket for its Forties Alpha Satellite Platform in the UK North Sea.

The structure – being built by the UK’s Offshore Group Newcastle (OGN) at a reported cost of $240 million – will be equipped to handle 18 well slots where drilling is slated to start in the third quarter of next year.

The full-commissioned topsides and 90-metre bridge are due to be added in the second quarter of 2013.

Apache Corporation says it has spent around $4.3 billion to date on the high-profile field since it acquired it from BP in 2003.
