Controversy: TransCanada submits new Keystone XL plan

TransCanada has submitted an application to re-route its controversial Keystone XL pipeline around a sensitive environmental region in Nebraska, as politicians on both sides of the political divide said they expected the project to eventually be approved.

The Canadian pipeline operator said on Wednesday that it had submitted a supplemental environmental report to the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality after taking into account the state's recommendations for the proposed line, which would carry crude from the Canadian oil sands to refineries in Texas.
