Hawkley hits hydrocarbons in Ukraine

Ukraine success: Hawkley has hit hydrocarbons across multiple zones in a well on its Sorochynska licence

Australia’s Hawkley Oil & Gas has hit hydrocarbons across multiple pay zones with its Sorochynska-202 well in the Poltava region of Ukraine.

The well was drilled to a total depth of 4220 metres and log analysis indicated the presence of hydrocarbons in the upper and lower B18 sands and the upper and lower B19 sands.

The company said reservoir development in the upper B18 sand was “slightly less” than prognosed, but added that was mitigated by the improved development of the lower B18, with total pay in both B18 sands close to the company’s expectations.
