Asha/Noor well nod for Wintershall

Lined up: Bredford Dolphin

German explorer Wintershall has been given the green light by the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to drill a wildcat at the Asha/Noor prospect in the mature North Sea.

The 16/1-16 probe will be drilled by Fred Olsen Energy semi-submersible Bredford Dolphin in 113 metres of water about three kilometres north of the Edvard Grieg field, once the unit has completed the ongoing well at the Albert prospect farther north.

It will be the first well to be drilled in production licence 457, operated by Wintershall with a 40% stake with partners E.ON, Bridge Energy and VNG each on 20%. Drilling is expected to take 102 days.
