Petrobras pre-salt: Ibama agency clears two projects

Brazil's environmental regulator has given Petrobras approval to proceed with two crucial projects in the Espirito Santo basin.

Ibama, as the agency as called, announced approval Thursday for the state-owned oil giant's pilot production project in the Baleia Azul basin pre-salt.

Initial production of roughly 20,000 barrels per day came online at the Cidade de Anchieta floating production system on Monday, Petrobras said.

The regulator also cleared the north-south Capixaba gas pipeline.

"This project is part of the Parque das Baleias - the first experience with integrated offshore licensing ran by Ibama," the agency said in a statement obtained by Upstream.
