The chief operating officer of Amec will step down as part of a larger re-organisation at the engineering outfit.

Neil Bruce will end his 15-year career at the company immediately and will relinquish his position on the board of directors in order to "pursue other career opportunities".

"I would like to thank Neil for his hard work and enormous contribution to AMEC. He has been a key member of the team that has delivered the group's growth in recent years and I have benefitted from his experience and his advice on many occasions," chief executive Samir Brikho said in a statement. "He will be a great asset to a future employer."
