Poland push: Total undeterred in search for shale gas

French supermajor Total will continue to explore for shale gas in Poland by drilling another well despite disappointing results from some of its peers, according to a report.

“The permit is big,” chief executive Christophe de Margerie told Bloomberg. Total will review results from the two wells drilled so far and may have to “drill differently” or elsewhere, he said.

The plans come after after partner ExxonMobil pulled out of the country. The US giant plans to surrender two of its six shale-drilling licenses to the Polish government after deciding in June to quit the country.
