Indonesian output expected to fall

Indonesia’s output may fall 3.6% this year, to 870,000 barrels per day, due to unplanned oilfield shutdowns and ageing oil fields, according to the head of the country’s upstream regulator.

BPMigas chairman R Priyono was cited in a Jakarta Post report as making the comments during a hearing with lawmakers on Wednesday.

Priyono also attributed the falling production over the years to disruptions including a pipeline leakage interrupting production at Chevron’s Duri field in Riau in 2010 and a fire incident at China National Offshore Oil Corporation’s South-east Sumatra block in 2011, the Jakarta Post reported.

BPMigas also estimated 9000 bpd of output was lost at Chevron’s Duri field and CNOOC’s SES block, according to the press report.
