Good start: Roc and its joint venture partners have hit hydrocarbons off Malaysia

Australia’s Roc Oil has hit hydrocarbons in an appraisal well on the Balai Cluster field development off East Malaysia.

The Bentara-2 well was drilled to a total depth of 2755 metres and preliminary logs indicate more than 100 metres of net hydrocarbon pay was encountered across a 650 metre interval.

Roc added the logs confirmed the presence of multiple hydrocarbon bearing reservoirs and confirmed the downdip extension of the hydrocarbon columns at the Bentara field.

Following the completion of the logging programme, the well will be cased and completed in preparation for testing.
