Hackberry blossoms for Gulfport
By Upstream staff
Oklahoma City-based Gulfport Energy said its Hackberry 2007-1 well in Lousiana had struck about 300 feet of net potential pay in the Upper Oligocene Marg How sand.
Gulfport said it had logged potential hydrocarbon pay in several zones in the 12,000-foot well, including 155 feet of potential pay at 10,850 feet. It also logged about 18 feet of potential pay in the upper Camerina formation at a depth of about 11,700 feet, with further indications at greater depths.
The company said it would run casing before attempting to explore the Camerina formation further.
The well is Gulfport's second on the East Hackberry prospect since processing information from a 3D survey of the field. The company said both wells would be completed by the end of the quarter.
