Aker to buy Thrum Energy

Aker: growing its presence in the Atlantic Canada market

In a move to expand its presence in the Atlantic Canada market, Norwegian contractor Aker Solutions has proposed to buy Canadian asset integrity management (AIM) company Thrum Energy.

Aker stated that acquiring the Newfoundland-based company supported its growth plans in North America, with Thrum providing a diverse portfolio of services to onshore and offshore assets in Canada.

"This is an important acquisition both for our AIM business, which we want to grow significantly over the coming years, and for our ability to meet customer expectations in Canada," Aker’s head of maintenance, modification and operations, Tore Sjursen said in a statement on Thursday.
