Total tots up Pars LNG costs

By Upstream staff

French giant Total's investment in the Pars liquefied natural gas project in Iran looks set to top $2 billion, company boss Christophe de Margerie said today.

"This is a project that will amount to nearly $10 billion for 100% upstream/downstream...We have around a 25% (stake)...this is a project of more than $2 billion for us," de Margerie told Reuters at the launch of the company's hydrocracker in Gonfreville.

Asked whether he thought an investment decision would be taken in the next few weeks or months he replied: "I can't give you an answer, the decision depends on technical and geopolitical issues," he said.
