Enbridge line source of Chicap Mokena leak

Enbridge: an infrequently used tankage line owned by the company was found to be the source of a 900 barrel leak at the Chicap Mokena terminal

An infrequently used tankage line owned by pipeline operator Enbridge was found to be the source of an oil leak at the BP-operated Chicap Mokena terminal near Chicago.

The leak was discovered on Tuesday last week and was found to be coming from the tankage line late on Wednesday.

Enbridge said about 900 barrels of oil had been released as a result of the leak but noted that all the oil had been contained within one of the storage tank dikes inside the facility.

It added the situation did not pose a health or safety risk to the community and that all of the visible oil within the tank dike had been recovered.
