Shell hires EMGS for $7m survey off Malaysia

Malaysia bound: EM Leader to carry out survey for Shell

Shell has hired Electromagnetic Geoservices (EMGS) to conduct a 3D electromagnetic survey off Malaysia in a contract worth around $7 million.

EMGS chief executive Roar Bekker said the award showed demand for EMGS services was on the rise in Asia.

“We are confident that the survey will be the first of numerous back-to-back projects in this region,” Bekker added.

The Norway-based geophysical services player said its EM Leader would carry out the survey once it has completed its current work programme, predicting the vessel would likely carry out further surveys in the region in the coming quarters.
