GeoPark cheers Chile flows

Chilean cheer: GeoPark has flowed from the Konawentru-4 well in the Magallanes basin

London-listed GeoPark Holdings has flowed oil from a well on the Konawentru oilfield on the onshore Fell Block in southern Chile.

The Konawentru-4 well was drilled to a total depth of 3102 metres and flowed 730 barrels of oil per day through a 10-milimetre choke from the Tobifera formation.

“The successful well confirms the opportunity for further development and production drilling of the Konawentru field,” said GeoPark chief executive James Park.

“In addition, the result expands the overall prospectivity of the Tobifera geological formation on a regional perspective.”

GeoPark said the initial production rate of the well was about 700 bpd but added further data would be needed to determine stabilised flow rates.
