In sights: probe at Torvastad

Swedish player Lundin Petroleum is reported to have lined up an exploration well at a new prospect in the same licence as the giant Johan Sverdrup discovery.

The probe to be drilled at the Torvastad prospect in Lundin-operated production licence 501 is targeted for the third quarter of 2013.

“The well is as an extension of Sverdrup and we see it as a standalone prospect,” exploration chief Hans Christian Ronnevik told Petro Media News.

The well location is north of Statoil’s former Aldous find in its operated PL265 that now forms part of the renamed discovery and is a potential extension of the recent Geitungen find on the flank of the field on the prospective Utsira High structure.
