Green light for Albert probe

Lined up: Transocean Barents

Explorer Maersk Oil has been given the official green light to drill a wildcat at its Albert prospect in the Norwegian Sea.

The 6506/6-2 will be drilled dusing the semi-submersible Transocean Barents in production licence 513, where the 50:50 partners are operator Maersk and partner Dana Petroleum.

Albert will be drilled to a depth of 3490 metres, with an estimated well duration of 53 days, and a possible discovery could be tied back to nearby installations such as the Victoria gas field to the south.
