Aker nets Shell subsea work

Subsea work: Aker's Mobile facility will build some of the units for Shell

Aker Solutions could pull in up to $400 million in new orders after penning a long-term subsea service agreement with Shell.

The five-year frame agreement is to provide subsea umbilicals and cables to the Anglo-Dutch supermajor for projects worldwide.

Both shallow water and deep water projects will be covered by the agreement which also has a five-year optional extension period.

Aker said the deal could produce between $200 million and $400 million in revenues.

Equipment will be built at both Aker’s Moss facility in Norway and its Mobile facility in Alabama.

Shell’s subsea projects are primarily based on the Norwegian continental shelf, the UK, Gulf of Mexico, Brazil and West Africa.
