BG unveils new chief executive

BG Group has appointed Chris Finlayson to take over the top role at the company from outgoing chief executive Frank Chapman.

Finlayson, who currently serves as the managing director of the UK company’s BG Advance business division, will take over the top job from 1 January next year.

He has 35 years experience in the oil and gas industry and joined BG from Shell in August 2010, before being appointed to the board in November last year.

While at Shell, Finlayson was a member of the company’s exploration and production leadership team and held a number of positions in Russia, Nigeria, Brunei and the North Sea.
