Hawkley assesses Sorochynska options

Ukraine: Hawkley will initially produce gas from the Upper B18 sands before revisiting the Lower B18 once the reservoir is drained to carry out production test

Australia-listed Hawkley Oil & Gas has decided to isolate the Upper B18 sands in the Sorochynska-202 well, in the Poltava region of Ukraine, for flow testing.

The company initially perforated several intervals in the well in November this year and it flowed gas with slugs of completion fluid and condensate.

Following the arrival of a test separator Hawkley reopened the well, however slugs of formation water were identified.

Logs were then run and it was determined the Upper B18 sands were flowing gas, while the lower B18 sands were producing condensate/light oil with some associated gas and some water from the lowermost perforations.
