British expansion: Heintzelman-led GE Oil & Gas adds second UK subsea centre

GE Oil & Gas has said it will add a second operations hub to its UK subsea systems business in Bristol, creating 200 jobs for engineers, project managers and commercial staff.

“The expansion is a direct response to the growth being experienced by the organization’s subsea business, a trend that it expects to continue in future years,” GE Oil & Gas said of the investment.

The energy giant’s Aberdeen-based GE Oil & Gas Subsea Systems unit already employs 800 at its subsea engineering base in the Scottish oil capital.

The company said that the new subsea centre would be sited alongside existing GE facilities in Aztec West business park in Bristol, where GE employs 550 staff.
