EMGS forges frame pact with Shell

Different strokes: EM surveys

Norwegian electromagnetic geoservices player EMGS has secured a global frame agreement with Shell.

The Oslo-listed contractor will provide 3D electromagnetic (EM) survey services for the Anglo-Dutch supermajor under the three-year pact.

EMGS chief executive Roar Bekker said Shell was now “leading the way in using3D EM data as an integral part of its exploration strategy”, having been a pioneer of the technology.

An increasing number of oil companies are using EM data generated from seabed sensors to gain a more accurate picture of reservoirs, alongside traditional seismic, and thereby minimise exploration risk.
