Bill Barrett ramps up in Utah after fire

Output: Bill Barrett almost back to full production at West Tavaputs

US independent Bill Barrett has ramped up production at its West Tavaputs natural gas development programme ahead of schedule to rates just below those seen prior to a November fire that caused extensive damage to a compressor station.

Denver-based Bill Barrett said repairs to the Dry Canyon compressor station had allowed production to get back to about 78 million cubic feet of natural gas per day, about 90% of what it was producing before an explosion reported on 20 November.

The company predicted about a week after the fire that it would be producing about 70% to 80% of the pre-fire rate by early January.
