Canadian acquisition: Aker Solutions buys out partners in St John's venture

Norway’s Aker Solutions has boosted its presence off Newfoundland and Labrador by buying out its partners in Canadian venture AKCS Offshore Partner.

St John's-based AKCS Offshore Partner offers maintenance, modifications and operations (MMO) services to operators in region, with a staff of 48 that are all to be offered jobs with Aker Solutions.

Aker Solutions head of MMO operations Tore Sjursen said the buyout aimed to tee up growth in the Canadian Atlantic market using the company’s heritage in the Arctic and other harsh environments.

The buyout of the partnership, which was formed in 2002 by the company along with SNC-Lavalin and GJ Cahill & Co, is being made for an undisclosed sum.
