TGS launches Deep basin shoot

Seismic shoot: TGS to survey Alberta's depths

Norwegian geoimaging specialist TGS has launched a new seismic shoot at the onshore Deep basin in central Alberta, Canada.

The 3D multi-client survey will cover about 180 square kilometres at Ille Lake and will evaluate multiple zones between the Cardium and the Upper & Lower Mannville formations and the emerging Duvernay unconventional play.

TGS, which will run the shoot through its wholly-owned Arcis Seismic Solutions subsidiary, said that Arcis’ proprietary tools “will enhance imaging and rock property assessments for even greater assistance with the placement of horizontal wells”.

Arcis will process the seismic data, which will be available to the industry in the first quarter of this year.
