Engineering, construction and government contracting company KBR said today it had formally separated from parent company oil services giant Halliburton.
KBR has been a unit of Halliburton for 44 years. The company, with headquarters in Houston, emplys about 50,000 people globally through its Energy & Chemicals and Goverment & Infrastructure divisions.
KBR reported revenue of $9.6 billion in 2006 and income from continuing operations of $81 million. As of the end of last year it had project backlogs of $13.5 billion, of which $5.7 billion was attributable to its Energy & Chemicals business and $7.8 billion to its Government & Infrastructure business.
The company said it had appointed John Huff and Loren Carroll to fill to vacancies on its board left by the departure of Halliburton officials. Huff is chairman of Oceaneering International and chairman and chief executive of Huff International. Carroll is a former president and chief executive of M-I Swaco and executive vice-president of Smith International.
KBR president and chief executive William Utt is the only executive director on the board.
