Moving aside: Jero Wacik will step down as the head of SKMigas when the regulator becomes permanent

Indonesia is set to make temporary oil and gas regulator SKMigas permanent, but Energy & Mineral Resources Minister Jero Wacik will be replaced as the head of the unit.

Local media reported that Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono would issue a decree removing the term “temporary” from the new regulator later this month.

Jero was quoted in the Jakarta Globe as saying the term “temporary” made oil and gas companies hesitant about investing in Indonesia.

He also revealed the decree would remove him as the head of SKMigas, although he added it would still be under the control of the ministry.
