Statoil in Nanna well nod

Drill ready: Ocean Vanguard

Statoil has secured a permit from the authorities to drill a wildcat at its Nanna prospect in Norway’s sector of the North Sea.

The 25/11-26 probe will be drilled in Statoil-operated production licence 169 using semi-submersible Ocean Vanguard, once it has completed a successful appraisal at the giant Johan Sverdrup discovery.

Drilling success at Nanna could add more resources for a further subsea tie-in at the state-owned operator’s fast-track Svalin field, which is being tied back to the Grane platform and is scheduled for start-up by the end of this year.

Statoil holds a 57% operated stake in the licence with partners Petoro (30%) and ExxonMobil (13%).
