CB&I bags topsides prize on Mariner

CB&I has confirmed it has won a $250 million award from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering for work on the topsides for Statoil’s Mariner field platform off the UK.

The Houston-based contractor will carry out detailed engineering design under the contract, effective in the fourth quarter of 2012, on which work will start in the first quarter of this year.

South Korean yard Daewoo was earlier this month confirmed as the winner of the $1.77 billion contract for the Mariner platform’s deck, on which it will be working with CB&I and Rig Design Services.

Norwegian state-owned operator Statoil is waiting on final approval from the UK authorities for the $7 billion heavy oil field development, located east of the Shetlands…
