Higher volumes: of Norwegian gas supply

Norwegian gas exports to Europe hit a new record last year, rising by 14% compared with 2011, despite the sovereign debt crisis among EU countries, according to gas infrastructure agency Gassco.

Pipeline deliveries to receiving terminals in Germany, Belgium, France and the UK reached 107.6 billion cubic metres, an increase of 13.4 Bcm on the previous year.

The total value of exports to the continent is reported to be around Nkr250 billion ($45 billion), which is equivalent to around a quarter of the Norwegian state Budget.

Domestic gas deliveries were at 1.4 Bcm last year, a slight drop on 1.6 Bcm in 2011.
