Brazil bound: Aker Wayfarer seals 230-day contract

Aker Solutions has scooped a seven-and-a-half month contract from a mystery customer for its Aker Wayfarer subsea construction services vessel off Brazil.

Aker Oilfield Services president Karl Erik Kjelstad pointed out the vessel had previously completed a year-long job off Brazil in 2011-2012.

"To secure another long-term campaign offshore Brazil is a compliment to the capabilities of Aker Wayfarer and her crew,” he said.

The vessel will mobilise from the UK northeast in May or June to start up operations on the contract, which has been signed by Aker Oilfield Services for an undisclosed sum.

The 157-metre long vessel is capable of operating in water depths up to 3000 metres, with two heave-compensated cranes and two integrated heavy duty work remotely operated vehicles.
