Taqa first oil on Cormorant East

Tie-back: North Cormorant platform

UAE-based operator Taqa Bratani has delivered first oil from the Cormorant East field off the UK in a record fast 85 days since making the discovery.

The field has been brought on stream with an initial output rate of 5500 barrels per day as a subsea tie-back to the North Cormorant platform, also operated by the UK offshoot of Abu Dhabi National Energy Company.

Taqa said in a statement that development of the Block 211/22a find – originally drilled at the Contender prospect last October - in such a short time-frame  had set a new benchmark for the UK sector.

Managing director Leo Koot said it also“marks an important step in the growth of Taqa’s exploration portfolio”.

The satellite field is being tapped from a single production well…
