Babcock bags Quad 204 subsea gig

UK-based engineering support services contractor Babcock has been awarded a weighty task worth $30 million-plus to deliver 2300 tonnes of subsea structures for BP’s Quad 204 project west of Shetland.

The company will fabricate 74 modules of carbon steel that will house fluid handling and control distribution systems as part of the UK operator’s $3 billion project to redevelop the Schiehallion and Loyal fields.

BP intends to replace the existing Schiehallion floating production, storage and offloading vessel, as well as upgrade and extend the subsea system by adding new risers and flowlines and drill additional wells, with the aim of exploiting the fields’ remaining recoverable resources to extend their life to 2035.
