McDermott wraps up Litoral award

Fabrication win: the Altamira yard in Mexico

McDemott has confirmed the award of a $230 million turnkey contract for fabrication of a compression platform for Pemex’s Litoral development in the Bay of Campeche off Mexico, as earlier reported by Upstream.

The US engineering giant will build the 8300-tonne Litoral-A production facility for the Litoral Tabasco Tsimin-Xux fields at its Altamira yard in Mexico.

Upstream earlier reported that McDermott dished Spanish rival Dragados Offshore and Mexico’s Cisca to secure the coveted deal, having submitted a $224.7 million bid.

The scope of the contract covers front-end engineering design, detailed engineering, procurement, fabrication, load-out, sea fastening, transport, installation, hook-up, commissioning and start-up of the eight-legged platform, including jacket and topsides as well as tripods, bridges and piles.

Engineering work is set to start early this year ahead of fabrication at the Mexican yard.
