Borten Moe seeks gas tariff cut

Norway’s Petroleum & Energy Ministry is proposing to cut gas transport tariffs to boost the economic viability of future field developments and increase recovery on existing fields.

The government aims to implement the tariff reduction on Norwegian gas exports to Europe transported through the Gassled-owned network under the proposal, which has been issued for consultation.

“Good resource management requires that new projects are priced correctly, also in relation to gas transport,” said Petroleum & Energy Minister Ola Borten Moe.

“The proposal for reduced transport costs for new gas volumes will facilitate more exploration, development of more discoveries and further efforts on existing fields. It also facilitates the selection of the best transport solution for gas,” he added.
