Hydrocarbon leak: the Cormorant A platform

A hydrocarbon leak at the Taqa Bratani-operated Cormorant Alpha platform has affected more than 20 fields in the northern North Sea.

As reported earlier by Upstream, the platform was evacuated after hydrocarbons were detected in one of the platform’s concrete legs on Monday.

London-listed Antrim Energy released a statement on Wednesday saying all production and related pipeline infrastructure associated with the Cormorant Alpha platform had been shut-in, including the Causeway and Cormorant East fields.

Production from both fields is processed at the Taqa-operated North Cormorant platform, before being exported to the Cormorant Alpha platform.
