Taqa working on Brent flows after leak

Taqa Bratani said it has "begun the process" of restoring about 80,000 barrels per day of flows to the Brent pipeline system shut off following a hydrocarbons leak at one of its platforms in the North Sea this week.

"The process of restarting Brent throughput follows a thorough technical evaluation that shows it is safe to do so without any increased risk to Cormorant Alpha," Taqa said in an update late on Wednesday.

The Abu Dhabi-controlled company has also said that the volume of hydrocarbons which leaked into a platform leg at the Cormorant Alpha platform is “small”.

Production was shut in at the platform and other fields in the area following the detection of a leak on Monday afternoon.
