Standard sells sixth jack-up

Standard Drilling has sealed the sale of a sixth jack-up rig being built at Singapore yard Keppel Fels after Mexican player CP Latina exercised an option to acquire the unit.

CP Latina is paying $215 million for the rig, designated B338, apparently trumping rival buyer China Oilfield Services Ltd (COSL), which was recently reported to be in talks with the Oslo-listed rig contractor to buy the unit that is scheduled for delivery in November.

The latest sale, expected to close on 15 March, will leave Standard with only one remaining rig under construction at the yard out of seven originally ordered, with the B340 unit due for delivery in May 2014.
