Ready for action: in Colombia
Gran Tierra ready for Colombia test
Calgary-based Gran Tierra Energy is preparing to start tests on the Juanambu-1 exploration well, in the Guayuyaco Block, in southern Colombia.
The company said it had started mobilising the Pride-6 service rig to the well location, in the Putumayo basin.
Juanambu-1 hit reservoir quality sandstones with hydrocarbon shows in four zones. The tests will evaluate the zones. Gran Tierra said the work would take about three weeks once the rig is on location.
Gran Tierra Energy holds a 50% working interest and is operator of the Guayuyaco Block. Solana Resources holds a 50% working interest while state-run Ecopetrol has a 30% interest back-in right on commercial discoveries. If Ecopetrol exercises its back-in right, Gran Tierra will hold a 35% working interest and retain operatorship, and Solana Resources Limited will hold 35%.
The Pride-17 drilling rig, which drilled the Juanambu-1 well, has been mobilised to the adjoining Chaza Block and has started drilling the Costayaco-1 exploration well. Gran Tierra is the operator of the Chaza block with a 50% working interest.
