Wood Group snatches Golden Eagle job

Wood Group wins Nexen job: the Golden Eagle project in the UK North Sea has been designed as a standalone facility with two linked platforms

UK-based Wood Group has been awarded a $50 million contract by Canada’s Nexen for the hook-up and commissioning of the Golden Eagle development project in the UK North Sea.

Under the two-year deal, the engineering giant’s brownfield services division Wood Group PSN will provide management, labour, materials, services and equipment to complete the hook-up and commissioning of the offshore facilities.

The $3.2 billion Golden Eagle development project is operated by Nexen’s subsidiary Nexen Petroleum UK, in joint venture with Maersk Oil North Sea UK, Suncor Energy UK and Edinburgh Oil & Gas.

The field will be developed using one wellhead platform and one production, utility and living quarters platform connected by a 70-metre bridge.
